Gilman and Pastor, LLP, is in a nationwide class action, In re Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc., ATX, ATX II, and Wilderness Tires Products Liability Litigation, MDL Docket No. 1373 (S.D. Ind.) representing consumers who own vehicles with Firestone ATX, ATX II and Wilderness tires.
We allege that Bridgestone/Firestone tires, because of their improper design and/or method of manufacture, have an unreasonably dangerous propensity to suffer tread separation. Defendants Firestone and Ford have concealed the tread separation defect by, among other things, imposing confidentiality agreements, ignoring warranty data and by recommending that the tires be under-inflated. The tread separation defect has resulted in over 148 deaths and thousands of injuries. On August 9, 2000, after months of news reports on Firestone tire failures and a Federal investigation, Firestone announced a limited recall of some models of the tires.
We brought suit seeking to expand upon the recall through a Court-ordered replacement of all Firestone ATX, ATX II and Wilderness tires as well as to recover all costs incurred by consumers who have had to pay to replace defective tires.
