Environmental/Toxic Substances
The discharge of toxic chemicals and hazardous materials into the environment can have a devastating effect on the health, livelihood, and property values of neighboring homeowners and businesses. Gilman and Pastor, LLP represents homeowners and commercial property owners in a wide spectrum of environmental matters ranging from property damage and environmental contamination cases to serious injuries resulting from exposure to toxic and hazardous substances.

In a high profile case, the Firm represents a class of thousands of homeowners and commercial property owners whose properties were contaminated by leaking underground gasoline storage tanks now or formerly owned by Exxon Mobil, Shell, Chevron, BP Amoco, Texaco and Sunoco. Property owners have suffered substantial damages as a result of the petroleum contamination of their properties, including costs for remediation, substantial diminution in property value and risk of serious injuries from contaminated water supplies.

Toxic chemicals and hazardous substances have existed in thousands of work places and facilities across the country. Employees have been exposed to thousands of hazardous substances which can cause permanent injury or even death. Too frequently, the damages associated with the exposure to these chemicals and toxic substances were known by employers and manufacturers, but they did little or nothing to protect workers. It is particularly alarming that many employees have been exposed to high levels of toxic substances in work places over a long period of time without being aware of the risks of serious injury.

In this modern age, toxic chemicals exist in a wide range of places, including land sites and public and private drinking water supplies. Toxic substances are also found in thousands of pesticides, gasoline, building materials and even food and cosmetics. The consequences of toxic exposure can include birth defects, cancers, cardiovascular problems, respiratory problems, neurological disorders and even death.

Gilman and Pastor, LLP has been committed to prosecuting significant environmental lawsuits across the United States in order to provide compensation for families and property owners harmed by toxic exposures.
